"Hey Little Girl"

When everything goes wrong
sometimes it makes no sense
there once was a time
I should have known better then
although you may try
it won’t come your way again

Hey, little girl
where will you hide
who can you run to now
Hey, little girl
where will you go
who can you turn to now

So why should I care
if somebody let you down
that’s nothing new
I know just what that can mean
well, the way that they talk
the talk is all over town
and its no surprise
little girls hurt sometimes

Hey, little girl

When everything goes wrong
sometimes it makes no sense
Hey, little girl
should have known better

Hey, little girl …[lyrics by Icehouse, photo by Jock Sturges]

i feel you…

in every stone
in every leaf of every tree
you’ve ever grown
[that you ever might have grown]

i feel you…
in every thing
in every river that might flow
in every seed you might have sown

i feel you…
in every vein
in every beating of my heart
each breath I take
[in every breath i’ll ever take]
i feel you…
anyway…
in every tear that i might shed
in every word i’ve never said

i feel you...

French painter, one of the leading artists and theoreticians of the Symbolist movement.

L’CHELLE DANS LE FEUILLAGE”

“The muses”

Nabis. A small group of French artists, active in the 1880s, who
were inspired by Gauguin’s method of painting in pure colour. Their approach is epitomized by a
statement by the painter Maurice
Denis
,
one of the group’s members:”Remember that a picture, before being a horse,
a nude, or some kind of anecdote, is essentially a flat surface covered with
colours.” Their pictures are characterized by broad surfaces of flat colour
or patterns. As well as painting, the group was interested in printmaking,
posters, book illustrations, textiles and theatre design.

Pietro AnnigoniPainter 1910 Milan – 1988 Florence

I am convinced that the works of today’s avant-garde are the poisoned
fruit of a spiritual decadence,
with all the consequences that arise from a tragic loss of love for life.
Pietro Annigon

La Bella Italiana – The Beautiful Italian,

Once upon a time there was Palladio

“Annigoni was not only the greatest painter of the twentieth century
but his works rank with the most celebrated paintings of all time” –
Bernard Berenson.

Meditation on the History of Italy
by Francesco HAYEZ 1850 – Oil on canvas

“The painting is also known as Meditation on the Old and New Testaments.
The darkened glance of the beauty in this painting is not really directed at
the viewer. She is sunk in thought, looking out of the canvas in a pre-occupied
way. In her right hand she holds a folio bearing the words “Storia d’Italia”,
this is to say a symbol of knowledge. Her left hand holds the symbol of faith,
the Cross, that has played so great a part in Italy’s history. Her naked breast
is highly provocative when seen with the black cross of mourning. She is perhaps
the allegory of Italy in the 19th century, and the gaze with which this figure
of “Italia” confronts the viewer creates a suggestive, almost hypnotic effect.
She seems to be in a state between waking and dreaming. This is meditation that
has not yet reached a solution, meditation in which grief predominates.”
