"angel" means "messenger," and "arch" means "chief, principle, greatest, or highest."
So "archangel" simply means "highest or greatest messenger."

The founding of the church of Panagia Paraportiani (Mykonos island, Greece) rare example of popular religious architecture. Built in the suburb of Kastro, it gives the impression to have for frame in its whiteness spotless only the blue of the sea and the sky.
The ” Paraportiani’s ” name is due to its place, because it is between the sea and the small door (” paraporti “) of Kastro. In fact, it is not about a church, but about a compact all five small churches built in various times, on two levels.
The bottom floor consists of four churches and a passageway. The areas all communicate with each other. The three little churches consist each of a single vaulted room and form the western side of the complex…
